From an MBA to a PhD?

The question arises often, "You have your Masters Degree, so are you going for your PhD?" LOL

The answer always astounds people.  NO INDEED!

I know that my limit is CPA. Let me get that please. Not that my getting my CPA is a small thing or that getting a PhD isn't attainable nor a great achievement. I just know where my life is supposed to go. If I go for me PhD, I will add more pressure to my (this is me and me alone, MY) life than I am supposed to have. Studying for my CPA is enough. Having gone through online courses was enough. Let me say this, having an opportunity to see the graduation ceremony of individuals who received their Doctorate was awesome. I could not place myself in their shoes but I am glad to have had the opportunity to celebrate with them.

Now let me add this minor disclaimer: I will not go to school to get my PhD, however, if for any reason an accredited institution wanted to award me an honorary Doctorate I will gladly receive it. (I'm just sayin'.)

I am CPA-Bound (as part of the definition of bound mentions: limit)
Success (as a CPA) is my only option. All honorary Doctorate Degrees are welcome!

Definitly NOT a Coincidence....

So I built a blog... YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!! I actually post to it... YEAAAAA!!!!!
But I never really looked at the title until today; CPA-Bound.  No, not CPA (Certified Public Accountant). BOUND...

I know the generic, because I grew up with this word, definition of Bound: but I never really knew what it meant. (How many words do we use that we just know - but we never really look into the definition of the word?)

Here is what I found:
1. intending to go
2. limit or boundary
3. obliged: having a binding: determined: incapable of failing
4. leap
(Merriam Webster. (2000) The Popular Group: Websters New Dictionary of the English Language)

That's me: Incapable of Failing - If, I am truly bound to what I am confessing.

CPA-Bound?!?!?!?!?!

Not Focused (Confession of a CPA studier)

(Is studier even a word?)

So my plan was to start my studying but rather I find myself installing my Rosetta Stone software. Hey, I live in Texas, this will give me a greater edge. But other than feelng like a total slacker,  I did leave my back pack and books at my work.

So, it will be me a Rosetta. I'll let you know how this will work out, along with my studies. Oh and of course tonight the Boston Celtics would be playing to Bulls. DISTRACTIONS... :)

DETERMINED to be a CPA

TODAY I HAVE MADE THE DETERMINATION THAT I WILL BECOME A CPA.....
Besides, there is no other option that I have. - NO PLAN B HERE.
So... Let's begin.

I figure I can use this to filter my thoughts and stress. If I leave them here on the blog, I don't have to take them home with me. Sorry - but there will be verbal vomit.

A little about me: I am Talisha, everyone calls me Tee (not totally true: my family calls me Teddy, and my 4 kids call me mom, and my husband calls me Bae). I hold a Bachelors in Business Science and Accounting along with a Masters in Business Administration both from the University of Phoenix ONLINE... Yes. Online! I have been on a quest to attain my CPA for almost a year now. The first test that I took was FAR. The epic fail discouragement enough that I put off studying and even picking up a book for 6 months. But now I am back and with this Blog and family keeping me accountable I am going all out. I have my study material from Yaeger CPA Review and I just got my NTS from NASBA for the AUD.
Join me on my journey and coach me along the way....

My Motto:
"Success is my only option. If I had another I would probably take it as my way out."
